Grace: The Interview

This September I released a new animated short entitled “Gold Dot and the Slimy Monster” (watch it here). It is an adaptation of a storybook written and illustrated by my daughter, Grace, and we recently sat down to discuss that project and more.

About Gold Dot and the Slimy Monster

EB (Me): Hi Grace, how are you today?

GB (Grace): Good.

EB: That’s good. You recently had your story book, Gold Dot and the Slimy Monster turned into an animated cartoon. So, tell me, how did you come with the idea for the book?

GB: Well, I got the inspiration from this book called Stories From the House of Bunnicula, It Came From Underneath the Bed.

EB: What did you think about turning Gold Dot and the Slimy Monster into a cartoon?

GB: That it was awesome!

EB: Were there any challenges?

GB: The challenge was the length of time; I was always wanting it to go [on YouTube] fast.

EB: What kind of books do you like to read?

GB: I like to read Puppy Place, Rainbow Magic, Puppy Patrol, Junie B. Jones…okay, let’s just say I have a lot!

EB: And what cartoons do you like to watch?

GB: I like to watch Paw Patrol, Pound Puppies, Littlest Pet Shop, okay I also like a lot of them!

EB: What do you like to do when you’re not writing books? Press PLAY to hear Grace’s answer!

EB: What is your favourite  food?

GB: I especially like Chinese food.

EB: What would you like to be when you grow up?

GB: I might own an animal shelter when I grow up, or maybe be a vet. Also maybe a part-time writer.

EB: Any plans to write another book?

GB: Not right now.

EB: Anything else we should know about you?

GB: I love dogs, and I’ve already written a book about caring for dogs, lots of different stuff about dogs, but I have no idea where I put it. (Interviewer’s Note: I’m sure it’s around here somewhere.)

If you have any questions or comments for me or Grace herself, go ahead and LOSE YOUR MIND! Run to the supermarket and use your finger to write a soy sauce message on slices of white bread. Seal the bread in an organ transplant cooler, write “HUMAN TISSUE” on the side, and throw that cooler in the back of a taxi. Tell the taxi driver that the password is “billabong” then comment below to let me know he’s on his way and I’ll run outside to meet him.
